A freight carrier (or steamship line) typically owns and operates the vessel transporting a given container.
When creating a reference, we recommended specifying a carrier to receive data as quickly and accurately as possible. When working with Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs), the vessel owner/operator, not the NVOCC, should be specified.
Specifying a carrier
A list of supported carriers and their related carrier code and SCACs may be found via the GET carriers endpoint. You can also find the carrier codes in our list of supported carriers. Provide the respective carrier_code when creating your reference.
If you do not see a carrier listed that you want to be supported, please contact support.
Tracking without a known carrier
If you do not know the steamship line or the steamship line an NVOCC has contracted with, refer to Auto Carrier Identification documentation.
